SPCS - The qualities of the filtered arc

It's been around for some time, a method to provide precision tools, components in the aircraft industry and increasingly medical devices and implants with layers that are extremely high in smoothness and density. It was already developed shortly after the introduction of the arc technology for industrial coatings. Significant costs and long delivery times of the so-called filtered arc, however, were for many coaters and users barely economically viable "side effects".

With the SPCS technology developed at Eifeler, layers can be deposited, which surface quality and density are comparable to those of the filtered arc without its drawbacks.

The challenge was to develop a process which in terms of roughness, leads to the desired results. To implement the technology in existing facilities, in addition to the technology, also the development of a modular and upgradeable system was focussed on.

The SPCS technology has reached a level that will meet these standards. Own and client tests have also confirmed outstanding results at large quantities.

The process can be installed easily by retrofitting into conventional arc coating systems, such as the alpha400P. A new system technology is not required.
